Dear Shooters,
For our last match of the year, we wanted to do something special. In an effort to send the 2018 season at Twin Oaks out with a bang, we are going to be shooting both courses on Sunday the 21st. That’s right, the field and the woods courses will be used! Because we only have so much daylight, we will be changing up the format for this match. We will still be shooting a 60 shot match, but only one shot per target. Meaning you will be shooting 60 unique targets spread across the field and woods courses. 15 lanes in the field, 15 lanes in the woods and two targets per lane.
We realize that this will be more walking than we have done in the past, but we hope that you all will agree it will be worth the extra steps. As always, feel free to bring any items you’d like to sell and we will have space for you to display them. Please bring note cards or tags to denote the prices. I’ve heard there will be some very nice guns and scopes up for sale, and possibly some pellets as well. We will also have a few raffle items as well. Bill will be treating us to chili for lunch as he has done for the last match in years past, and it should be fantastic. We will have a bathroom available at a nearby garage on the property.
Please be aware that this is private property and we are graciously being offered the use of the land by the property owner so be respectful and considerate. We will be providing various signs throughout the property as well as on Bell Street to help direct you to the range and parking areas.
The day’s agenda will be:
1. Sight-in range opens at 8 am.
2. Registration from 8 till 9:30 am.
3. Shooters meeting at 10 am.
4. Match starts at 10:30 am.
5. N.O.A. provided lunch and awards ceremony at the conclusion of the match.
6. Raffle
We will include our Novice and Junior classes. The idea of these classes is to provide an airgun shooting opportunity for inexperienced shooters. Some of you, probably all of you, have family members or friends that might like to join you on the course, but they are not really up to the full blown FT challenge. Well, here’s the answer, they can join you and shoot the course in the Novice or Junior class.
Junior class requires the junior shooter to take 4 shots per lane at the close target. They are scored one point for a knock down and zero points for a miss.
For standing and kneeling lanes, junior shooters may shoot the close target from their normal "freestyle" or seated position with the same aids they use on non forced position lanes. (Ex. A junior shooting from a bucket and sticks may use these on the standing and kneeling lanes as well). This is not required, so juniors looking to test their abilities may shoot the kneeling and standing lanes from the forced position if they elect to, although their final scores will not be weighted in case of a tie with another shooter.
Novice class shooters, those 18 years of age and older, will use the same rules as Junior class, those under the age of 18, although they will shoot the positional shots in either standing or kneeling position.
All shooters under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If the parent or guardian is not going to shoot the match, they still need to supervise the minor at each lane on the field target course for the entire match. One parent or legal guardian may accompany up to two minors.
