As I think back on the 2025 season here at NOA, I can’t help but think that this has been a fantastic and fortunate year for our club. We’ve seen a number of new shooters join us this year, and we’ve also had great weather for all of our matches. There’s not much more you can ask for than that in my opinion. Thankfully, our final match of the year was no exception. Temps started in the low 60s, but eventually rose into the mid 80s later in the day. Definitely more like summer than fall. 31 shooters came out to join in the fun, and they were in for a tough one.

We opted to shoot the field this week, as we have some shooters going to US Nationals and my understanding is that the host club has a number of long targets and some in a very open setting. The course was definitely on the long side as far as distance goes, but we balanced it out as best we could. 17 of 30 targets were over 40 yards and of those 17, 12 were at or over 45 yards. The Troyer, before wind and lighting factors, was a 33.28T.  Now, as a 12 FPE shooter, if I was to go through and apply wind to the targets I had to hold for, the Troyer ends up at a 35.5T. While the wind was not super strong through the majority of the day, it definitely kicked up around noon, with about 5 lanes left.

Thankfully, we made it through the day with only a few cold lines for protests. Overall things ran smoothly and there were no major issues. As shooters came off of the line, it seemed like the wind and distance took a toll on many. Doug Cunningham handled it the best out of the Hunter PCP shooters, posting a 53/60 to take the top spot. In Open PCP, Roger Barker bested Larry Justinus, by 3 points, shooting a 44/60. In Unlimited, Dave Hitchcock took the honors with a solid 54/60.

We had three piston shooters, two in WFTF and one in Open. Tyler Cellini returned after many matches away, and while his score in Open Piston doesn’t reflect his shooting skill, we hope he had fun and will return next season. In WFTF Piston, Dan Putz threw down a 44, which was our highest piston score of the day. And in WFTF PCP, Tyler Patner posted a 57 to take the top spot and overall high score.

As shooters came off the course, they were treated to our normal pizza lunch before awards were handed out and the courses were torn down. I need to thank not only our members for all of their help and hard work, but also those of you that stick around after the matches and help us tear down. Many hands make light work and the assistance is greatly appreciated. We are blessed to have such a great group of shooters join us each month, and this final match of the season was no different. Thank you all!
