(Match Report by Tyler Patner) June 13, 2026
21 shooters joined us for our re-scheduled Saturday match. With the weather forecast looking bleak for our usual Sunday match, we opted to move things to Saturday. Thanks to our members for being flexible, and taking advantage of the longer days this time of year, about 8 of us made it out to the club Friday after the work day concluded and set up a challenging woods course. Saturday morning treated everyone to sunny skies and temps topping out around 80. Adding to the challenge for the day, was the heavy tree canopy in the woods. This creates darkness that definitely increases the difficulty of ranging, and in a few cases, simply seeing the targets from the firing line.

Without any environmentals factored in, the course was a 32.6T. With the little bit of wind that was present and factoring some of the darker targets that were more challenging to range, the Troyer was more like a 34T. This course was much more technical than our usual courses, where distance rules. But in an effort to test out some recently fixed up targets, as well as give shooters a change of pace, we saw many more close shots with small kill zones and midrange reduced shots. You really had to be confident in your dope, and holding steady to be successful on this course.

As shooters came off the line, it was clear who handled these challenges the best. In Hunter PCP, Greg Vaughan continued his successful summer with a 54/60 to take the top spot. Followed closely behind was Steve Hockenberry on 53. Al Duster was our lone Hunter Piston shooter, opting for his Walther LGU instead of his typical Diana 54. Al turned in a 34. In Open PCP, Keith Walters and his .20 cal RAW (the Blue Beast) posted a formidable 56. In WFTF PCP, Tyler Patner took top honors with a 57. He was followed closely by Nic Gregoris, who posted a very impressive 56, especially considering it was his first match of the year. Jeff Paddock and his HW77 ended up with a fantastic 52 in WFTF Piston. And in Unlimited, Alan Barker laid down a solid 56 of his own.

Shooters were treated to our usual pizza lunch, and after tearing down the sight in range and course, called it a day. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend, and if our schedule change resulted in you being unable to make it this month, my apologies. But I hope we can count on seeing everyone back in July for our next monthly match, taking place on the 19th. As a reminder, we are just a few months away from the Pyramyd Air Cup (early August) and the Burning River 120 (September). Entries for the BR120 will be opening soon, and we hope to see you all there.

Until next time, shoot safe and we will see you on the lanes.
